EDGE Group Joins Forces with São Paulo State for Groundbreaking Security Project

EDGE, a prominent player in the global advanced technology and defense sector, has revealed that it will undertake a six-month trial for a significant public safety initiative in collaboration with the São Paulo State Government. This alliance was disclosed during a visit by senior governmental officials to the headquarters of EDGE Group in Abu Dhabi.

The ‘Proof of Concept’ (PoC), beginning with an initial half-year phase to assess the framework and enable modifications, will focus on three strategic objectives: organizing data from diverse systems; analyzing and merging various solutions; and creating a faster, more efficient public safety response utilizing cutting-edge technologies.

Driven by intelligent surveillance, the initiative, dubbed ‘Crystal Ball’, will prioritize monitoring and support for the central areas of São Paulo through the implementation of sophisticated technologies, including Smart CCTV Monitoring Solutions, Integrated Command and Control, Communications, Advanced Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C4ISR), Smart Drones, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Aerial Data Intelligence, and Beacon Red’s unique offering, “Digital Overwatch”.

The program aims to improve transparency around crime statistics, pinpoint high-crime areas, track unlawful behavior, assist victims, and evaluate impacts on businesses alongside pertinent metrics. By leveraging this data, the government will develop a robust analytics capability, facilitating informed decisions for law enforcement, better resource distribution, enhanced public safety, and ultimately, a decrease in crime rates.

Mansour AlMulla, Managing Director & CEO of EDGE Group, stated: “We are witnessing tangible outcomes from our fruitful ‘win-win’ collaborations with the São Paulo State Government in this strategically vital Brazilian market. By tapping into existing synergies and utilizing the multi-domain strengths within EDGE’s varied ecosystem, we have identified clear avenues where EDGE can provide effective solutions to our partners’ challenges, not only in military contexts but also by extending our homeland security offerings to civilian anti-crime surveillance services in major urban areas like São Paulo.”

Felicio Ramuth, Vice Governor of São Paulo, commented: “We appreciate EDGE Group’s partnership with the São Paulo State Government on this significant public safety initiative. This collaboration represents a major advancement in enhancing security, technology, and data-driven decision-making for our state. We are hopeful about the potential of this initiative to positively affect our region and foster a safer, more prosperous environment for our citizens, businesses, and communities.”

At the conclusion of the trial, a comprehensive strategy for broadening these capabilities across all of São Paulo will be established. The PoC initiative builds on the successful, proven solutions developed by EDGE entity BEACON RED, which include the establishment of Center Of Excellence Fusion Centers currently being implemented in various critical infrastructure and security organizations in the UAE.

The São Paulo delegation, headed by Vice Governor Felicio Ramuth; Secretary of International Affairs Lucas Ferraz; International Advisor for Public Security Alexandre Nepomuceno; and Anderson Farias, Mayor of São José dos Campos, held a series of discussions with EDGE Group leadership and other key stakeholders in Abu Dhabi, aimed at fostering potential strategic alliances and enhancing cooperation with the State of São Paulo and the broader region.

This meeting follows a highly productive visit to São Paulo by EDGE in September 2023 and an additional trip by Secretary Ferraz to EDGE’s headquarters in December 2023. This recent exchange marks another critical milestone in EDGE Group’s mission to strengthen partnerships with the State of São Paulo and other significant collaborators in Brazil.
