“Revolutionizing Defense: EDGE Unites Radar, Electronic Warfare, and Electro-Optics into Dual Innovation Hubs”
EDGE, a prominent player in advanced technology and defense sectors worldwide, has revealed the inauguration of two groundbreaking Centres of Excellence (CoE), located in the UAE: The new Radar and Electronic Warfare (EW) CoE and the Electro-Optic Centre of Excellence (EOCE). These innovative CoEs leverage the robust foundations and proficiency of the current facilities. This initiative is designed to bolster the Group’s well-established reputation as a trailblazer in the industry, while advancing the development of its ambitious product strategy by centralizing its vital competencies in these essential areas. This effort aligns with the overarching vision of the UAE and EDGE’s trajectory for growth, supporting the business objectives of each of EDGE’s 35 divisions.
The consolidation of the Group’s advanced skill sets will enhance product delivery, innovate groundbreaking technologies, and provide customized solutions to end-users. Additionally, it will optimize operational efficiencies, offer cutting-edge Electro-Optical/Infra-Red (EO/IR) systems for customers, as well as Radar and Electronic Warfare solutions, and create a central hub for research & development, product advancement, serial manufacturing, and maintenance. Moreover, it will enable the integration of advanced technologies across EDGE’s comprehensive solutions portfolio. The CoEs will also leverage the growth potentials and knowledge sharing from within its diverse advanced technology and defense network, as well as through collaborations and recently formed joint ventures.
Hamad Al Marar, Managing Director and CEO of EDGE Group, stated: “This strategic initiative, consolidating our capabilities to optimize product delivery and promote innovation in a unified location, embodies EDGE’s essence and core objective of revolutionizing the defense sector. By establishing Centres of Excellence for Radar and Electronic Warfare (EW) and Electro-Optics, we will accelerate the emergence of advanced solutions. This empowers us to continually adapt and provide customized, high-performing products at competitive pricing. We also intend to broaden our scope with additional CoEs, leveraging emerging technologies and evolving market demands.”
Each CoE will be overseen by a reputable Board of Advisors representing EDGE’s five primary clusters: Platforms & Systems, Missiles & Weapons, Space & Cyber Technologies, Trading & Mission Support, and Homeland Security. The Board will supervise technology roadmaps, ensure coherence with corporate and customer objectives, and facilitate the effective exchange of specialized technologies and systems across the various entities.
