Rohde & Schwarz Unveils R&S KORA for Advanced F126 Frigate Solutions
Rohde & Schwarz has been granted a contract focused on a collaborative benefit approach with Thales to supply and implement R&S KORA systems for communication and radar electronic support measures (ESM) on the new German navy F126 frigates.
R&S KORA is a robust interception and analysis platform designed to detect, identify, and monitor intricate and broadband radar signals, along with communication transmissions. This system amalgamates detection outcomes from diverse signals to present a comprehensive overview of the scenario, encompassing the entire electromagnetic spectrum, especially within highly sensitive environments and extended detection ranges. R&S KORA enhances situational awareness, bolstering early warning capabilities.
“Rohde & Schwarz values this contract and boasts a long-standing tradition of supplying radio communication reconnaissance systems to the German clientele,” states Wolfgang Marchl, Vice President of Government Solutions at Rohde & Schwarz. “R&S KORA facilitates the acquisition, analysis, and evaluation of radar and communication signals at sea, unlocking a new realm of intelligence. The system’s modular and scalable nature makes it ideally suited for the German navy and will cater to future intricate operational demands.”
A team led by Damen is constructing four new F126 frigates for the German Navy in collaboration with Blohm+Voss and Thales. This contract boosts the involvement of the German maritime industry in the F126 initiative. The first vessel is anticipated to be delivered to the German navy in 2028 in Hamburg.
