
Tawazun Council Forms Dynamic Alliance to Advance UAE Navy’s National Combat Management Innovations
ABU DHABI, 8th March, 2024 (WAM) — Tawazun Council, Naval Group, and Marakeb Technologies have formalized a Joint Development Agreement to enhance the National Combat Management System (NCMS) through a comprehensive transfer of technology and expertise.
This pact forms part of the continuous initiatives aimed at boosting the UAE’s defense and security sectors, promoting rapid industry growth, and delivering national defense solutions equipped to address forthcoming demands.
The agreement was executed in Abu Dhabi by Shareef Hashim Al Hashmi, Chief Executive Officer of Operations at Tawazun Council, Lilian Brayle, Executive Vice President of Combat Systems and Equipment at Naval Group, and Basel Shuhaiber, Chief Executive Officer of Marakeb Technologies, in the presence of various high-ranking officials.
As per the arrangement, Naval Group will collaborate with Marakeb Technologies LLC, a subsidiary of Strategic Development Fund Company (SDF), selected as the national joint development partner for this initiative.
Naval Group is set to enhance the National Combat Management System capabilities for the UAE Navy, enabling seamless integration of a national CMS into their naval fleet, applicable for both newbuild and retrofitting ship projects.
Muammar Abdulla Abushehab, the CEO of Tawazun, emphasized that the advancement of the National Combat Management System (NCMS) for the UAE Naval Forces is an integral part of endeavors to empower defense and security sectors while acquiring state-of-the-art defense tools and technology, reinforcing the UAE’s stature in the industry.
“The NCMS is designed to establish a system that bolsters operational capabilities, providing national solutions through local partnerships. Moreover, it aims to equip the armed forces with sophisticated defense products while enhancing national expertise,” he remarked.
He highlighted that the project provides sovereign benefits regarding control, customization, and system enhancements to consistently meet the Naval Forces’ requirements. This is enabled through the transfer of defense technology and naval combat management systems, which contribute to forging a promising pathway for defense industrial capabilities.
