Estonia’s Threod Systems Partners with Saudi Arabia’s First Shield in Groundbreaking MoU at WDS

Collaboration Between Threod Systems and First Shield

Threod Systems, the premier military technology developer from Estonia, has established a significant partnership with First Shield, a leading defence and security engineering firm from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This collaboration was formally announced during the World Defense Show (WDS) held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

This Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) solidifies both parties’ commitment to enhance high-tech unmanned aircraft system (UAS) solutions for both civilian and military uses within Saudi Arabia. The goal is also to co-develop advanced technology solutions that align with the Kingdom’s defence goals.

Through this agreement, Threod Systems’ Eos C VTOL UAS is set to be integrated as a central element in a comprehensive surveillance system provided by First Shield. Moreover, the collaboration will seek to secure opportunities for other Threod Systems products, including innovative aircraft launcher systems, catering to military users in Saudi Arabia. There are also plans for local manufacturing, promoting partial or full production of Threod Systems’ offerings within the Kingdom.

Colin Harper, Managing Director of First Shield, remarked that this MoU stands out as one of the most significant agreements at this year’s World Defense Show. He noted, “First Shield has emerged as a key player in providing vital services for defence forces in test and evaluation initiatives, aiding the Kingdom in its ambitious goal of achieving 50% domestic sourcing of its military supply chain. Certain advanced technologies, however, still need to be obtained internationally, such as the remarkable Eos VTOL developed by Threod Systems.”

Expressing his pride in this milestone, Arno Vaik, CEO of Threod Systems, recognized the long-standing collaboration with First Shield and emphasized the importance of this agreement in fortifying the Kingdom’s security and defence capabilities. “Identifying the right partners is crucial, and I am excited to formalize our relationship through this accord. I believe we have a promising future ahead,” stated Mr. Vaik prior to signing the memorandum.

Threod Systems is renowned for its expertise in developing unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), along with electro-optical reconnaissance, surveillance and target acquisition technologies, as well as launcher systems for strategic operations. First Shield primarily focuses on engineering and technology solutions tailored for the defence and security sectors in Saudi Arabia.
