FNSS, a Turkish Armoured Combat Vehicle Producer, Launches the PARS ALPHA 8×8 Next-Generation AFV at the World Defence Show 2024

FNSS is excited to unveil the PARS ALPHA 8×8 Next-Generation Armoured Fighting Vehicle to a global audience at the World Defence Show, scheduled from February 4th to 8th, 2024. This vehicle is engineered for comprehensive superiority on the battlefield. By satisfying the most demanding mission objectives, it embodies the future of military engagement designed to achieve tactical excellence and superior combat performance for contemporary and emerging user needs. The vehicle signifies a significant advancement in armoured combat, heralding the beginning of a new era in tactical mobility, remarkable survivability, and lethality.

“The PARS ALPHA 8×8 is a reflection of FNSS’s commitment to engineering a future where ground forces can attain a technological advantage on the battlefield, both now and in the future,” stated Nail Kurt, CEO of FNSS. He added, “The PARS ALPHA 8×8 signifies a breakthrough in armoured vehicle technology. Our dedication to innovation and insights into the modern combat landscape have resulted in a platform that delivers unparalleled tactical adaptability and combat efficiency. It is crafted to empower military forces globally with superior armoured combat capabilities.”

Designed with a strong emphasis on comprehensive battlefield dominance, the PARS ALPHA 8×8 is a testament to FNSS’s proficiency in ground systems and its anticipation of the changing military landscape. This platform integrates cutting-edge design and technology to enhance remarkable mobility, survivability, robustness, situational awareness, and life-support systems, pioneering innovative solutions in next-generation armoured combat.

Innovative All-Terrain Performance

Step into the future with the unparalleled all-terrain capabilities of the PARS ALPHA. In any weather scenario, its sophisticated 8×8 all-wheel-drive, adjustable ride height, and all-axle steering system provide exceptional mobility. The hydro-pneumatic suspension with modifiable ride height facilitates continuous off-road agility, further complemented by a turning radius optimized for confined urban combat. Navigating 40% side slopes, 70% gradients, 2.4-meter ditches, and 0.80-meter vertical obstacles is routine for its drivetrain.

PARS ALPHA is set to become the preferred vehicle for rapid deployment forces worldwide, capable of reaching speeds exceeding 115 km per hour on roads. Its advanced powerpack and suspension system enable reduced vehicle height for optimal road stability at high speeds. Its design guarantees sustained mobility even with tire and/or wheel loss, ensuring missions remain on course. An impressive operational range exceeding 800 km distinguishes this vehicle, enabling extensive deployment without the need for refueling.

This vehicle excels in performance and reliability with its extended operational reach, covering an impressive 5000 km in cross-country and on-road driving, without the necessity for field maintenance. The reduced logistical burden, increased mean time between failures (MTBF), and improved mission readiness of the PARS ALPHA 8×8 elevate combat maneuvers with a vehicle that exceeds expectations.

Exceptional Levels of Protection

This next-gen vehicle introduces advanced protection systems that provide unmatched resistance to mines, IEDs, kinetic energy threats, and artillery projectiles. Mine blast attenuation seating and positioning the driver and commander above the second axle, behind the power pack compartment, enhance crew safety against high-level threats from all directions. This design strategy offers unique kinetic energy ballistic protection, especially in the vehicle’s frontal arc. The hydro-pneumatic suspension system, with adjustable ride height control, can enhance mine protection by exceeding a ground clearance of 60 cm when needed.

A gunshot detection system, laser warning, and both soft-kill and hard-kill active protection systems can be integrated based on user specifications.

The PARS ALPHA also features positive pressure and face mask CBRN defense capabilities, ensuring a sealed environment within the vehicle. This provision protects against toxic contaminants, allowing crew members to survive and retain combat effectiveness, even in hazardous and lethal environments.

Its adaptable structural design and vehicle profile ensure best-in-class lower height while preserving ample internal volume with open architecture. These attributes ensure the crew and dismounted soldiers remain protected against external threats, reinforcing its role as a pioneering asset for modern warfare.

Advanced Weapon Systems Integration

The next-generation PARS ALPHA 8×8 features integration for advanced weaponry. The TEBER-II 30/40 remote-controlled turret (RCT) is equipped with a 30mm dual-feed automatic cannon. This 30mm cannon can be swapped for a 40mm barrel by merely changing the recoil spring and forward feeder. This flexible weapon system allows users to enhance firepower with minimal effort, whenever and wherever necessary. A 7.62mm chain gun or MAG machine gun can be coaxially mounted along the main armament.

TEBER-II 30/40 RCT is also adaptable for various modern anti-armour systems, such as Semi-automatic command to line of sight (SACLOS) and Automatic command to line of sight (ACLOS) missile types. It supports two ready-to-fire ATGMs with an onboard fire control system, enabling diverse threat engagements with effective ranges surpassing 4 km.

A high elevation and low depression 7.62 or 5.56mm independent overhead remote-controlled weapon system (ORCWS) is placed on top of the turret, allowing high elevation targeting against threats in elevated urban environments (like buildings and rooftops) as well as addressing drones approaching from above. The ORCWS also serves as the commander’s independent sight, providing hunter-killer capabilities.

Both the turret and RCWS are designed to engage multiple targets simultaneously from all directions. The TEBER-II 30/40 RCT features target tracking and two-axis stabilization that allows firing on the move.

In addition to the TEBER-II 30/40 RCT, the vehicle can accommodate various manned or remotely controlled turrets capable of housing up to 120mm direct/indirect guns, 120mm mortars, air defense systems, and anti-armour systems.

Enhanced Situational Awareness & Superior Crew Coordination

Since the late Cold War period, 6×6 and 8×8 wheeled armoured combat vehicles have adhered to a similar design philosophy. In this conventional design, the driver is positioned at the very front of the vehicle, adjacent to the engine compartment,

while the commander is positioned behind the driver. Both occupants generally encounter a limited field of view while operating with hatch in the closed position.

PARS ALPHA 8×8 New Generation Armoured Combat Vehicle features a transformed structural layout by placing the crew and dismounts behind the power pack section. With its compact power pack design, the commander and driver can sit side-by-side. This innovative arrangement permits over 180° real-time optical situational awareness for both individuals.

Furthermore, it augments crew protection during lengthy journeys without opening top hatches in hostile environments. Consequently, it also guarantees visual contact and enhanced coordination between the vehicle crew and dismounts.

Along with its distinct optical field of vision, the vehicle is outfitted with displays and integrated 360-degree situational awareness cameras that facilitate both day and night visibility for crew and dismounts.

Transportable by Air with Strategic Operational Capability

The PARS ALPHA 8×8 conforms to contemporary military logistics, being transportable on roads, railways, and compatible with a fleet of strategic air transports such as the A400M, C-17 Globemaster, C-5 Galaxy, An-124, and Il-76. With this level of airlift readiness, the PARS ALPHA is perpetually at the forefront, prepared to assert dominance wherever mission requirements dictate.
