On December 7, 2018, the DGA announced the second phase of the VT4 initiative to ARQUUS. This phase includes 1,200 new Standard 2 units. Manufacturing and delivery of the Standard 2 commenced at the start of the year. ARQUUS aims to provide 800 Standard 2 VT4 units in 2019.
In order to accomplish this goal, the ARQUUS facility in Saint-Nazaire has revamped its VT4 assembly line, incorporating additional workstations. The insights gained from the VT4 Standard 1 experience have also facilitated the evaluation of procedures to ensure maximum efficiency and the highest quality standards.
The VT4 Standard 2 encompasses 350 new references and features several advancements over Standard 1: incorporation of modern communication and navigation systems, additional racks, towing apparatus, and blackout lighting.
This model of the VT4 is also engineered to be air-transportable, providing enhanced tactical capabilities.
The VT4 is a 4×4, non-armored, agile vehicle, crafted for command post and liaison missions. It can accommodate five soldiers or four operators equipped with the FELIN system. With a payload capacity of up to 900kg, it is ideal for domestic operations (Sentinelle, training, liaison) as well as international missions in low-threat environments.
The comprehensive services package offered by ARQUUS is fully integrated, innovative, and demonstrates a strong commitment to maintaining technical operational readiness (90%) across the entire fleet.
By 2025, 3,700 ARQUUS VT4s will be supplied to the Army, replacing the P4 vehicle. In 2018, the initial batch of 500 Standard 1 VT4s was delivered to the French Army.
