Leading European provider of safe ground mobility, ARQUUS is showcasing its innovations at the Paris Air Show 2019 located at Le Bourget. As part of its air transport initiatives, the firm prominently presents its Scarabée model for the very first time to the public.

Arquus’ initial creation, the Scarabée is a lightweight, armored 4×4 vehicle crafted for reconnaissance, scouting, and support roles both at the frontlines and behind enemy lines. Developed by a dedicated team of specialists from ARQUUS, the Scarabée was conceived in collaboration with French SMEs and startups (utilizing 95% French suppliers).

As the first inherently hybrid military vehicle, the Scarabée redefines standards for mobility and energy efficiency. This hybrid propulsion enables a “boost” mode that synchronizes its thermal and electric engines, as well as an “all-electric” mode. This stealth capability allows for tactical maneuvers without thermal or acoustic signatures, facilitating extended silent surveillance while operational.

The design of the Scarabée specifically encourages teamwork. The interior layout, configured to hold four personnel, aims to optimize communication among crew members, enhanced by the Battlenet vetronics system. Positioned centrally at the front, the operator enjoys a 270° field of vision.

Maintenance in field operations has been a priority in the Scarabée’s architecture, featuring an easily removable power pack and straightforward access to all components, ensuring readiness for all-day missions.

The Scarabée offers adjustable ballistic and mine protection based on mission requirements. Designed for coordinated combat, it can be outfitted with an extensive range of systems including multi-function Remote Controlled Weapon Stations (RCWS), multi-caliber cannons, RGL cameras, MMP (or MILAN) launchers, anti-drone technologies, and radar systems.

With dual clearance levels, the Scarabée can perform in high ground-clearance mode for off-road operations or in low mode for standby or aerial transport. It features an independent rear drive for a minimal turning radius, granting exceptional mobility in urban settings or congested combat zones. It can maneuver in a “crab” motion, presenting several unique tactical advantages.

Thanks to its compact dimensions, comparable to the VB2L, the Scarabée is air transportable (C-130, Chinook, A400M). It is also suitably air droppable, compatible with the LTCO12 platform. In this setup, it can achieve combat readiness within 15 minutes post-drop, in accordance with operational protocols.

The sliding side doors facilitate continuous access during airlift operations, enabling vehicle configuration adjustments directly within the aircraft, thereby enhancing deployment speed.

It is capable of executing air assault missions with personnel and weapons prepped according to standards, allowing for the securing of critical areas. Thus, it can capture advanced positions and secure airstrips in advance of airborne or air-transported forces. With its superior mobility, it also ensures the safety of units at the rear and flanks.
