Arquus Chosen to Empower the Next Generation of CAESAR © MK II Self-Propelled Guns
The Prime Minister, Mr. Jean CASTEX, unveiled the announcement to Nexter Systems regarding the contract for the advancement of the next-generation CAmion Equipped with an ARtillery System (CAESAR ©), often referred to as CAESAR © MK II. As a seasoned supplier of tactical and logistical mobility for the armed forces, Arquus is thrilled to have been chosen by Nexter to provide the new platform for the CAESAR MK II. Already the architect of the mobility base for the French Army’s existing generation Caesar, Arquus takes immense pride in perpetuating this rigorous collaboration to deliver the next-level mobility capabilities for the Army’s artillery divisions.

The choice of Arquus by Nexter Systems underscores the company’s proficiency in tactical mobility. It also highlights the superior quality of the current CAESAR © carrier, which has been developed by Arquus from the very beginning. A global benchmark in mobility for self-propelled artillery, the initial model of CAESAR © is indeed founded on a Sherpa Medium chassis crafted and manufactured by Arquus.
Throughout its operational tenure in the French Army, the CAESAR © has demonstrated exceptional mobility and durability, particularly in the most challenging operational theaters and environments. Specifically, within Task Force Wagram in Iraq, the CAESAR © showcased the significance of its design decisions, valued by operational units for its agility and sturdiness, and by maintainers for its straightforward upkeep.

Engineered and manufactured entirely in France, the CAESAR © MK II carrier will be equipped with a robust 460-horsepower engine, a significant upgrade from the 215 of the current model. This enhancement will provide the CAESAR © MK II with enhanced tactical mobility, bolstering its capability to navigate challenging terrains, particularly to safeguard against adversarial counteractions. Furthermore, the carrier’s capabilities have been amplified by an increase in payload potential, enabling it to transport more ammunition and offer enhanced protection.
Thanks to its lightweight and thoughtful design, especially regarding the wheels, the CAESAR © MK II will promise a remarkably low total cost of ownership, along with unwavering mobility. Its compact profile, facilitated by its 6×6 layout, will allow it to be airlifted aboard A400M aircraft with minimal preparation time.
The CAESAR © MK II carrier will be manufactured at the Limoges location, Arquus’ Center of Excellence for New Vehicle Development.
Equipped with its state-of-the-art chassis, the CAESAR © MK II 6×6 carrier symbolizes the future of tactical mobility.
