Japan Enhances Pilot Training with Beechcraft T-6 Texan II: A New Era for the Air Self-Defense Force
Textron Aviation Defense LLC, a subsidiary of Textron Inc., has announced today, in collaboration with the Kanematsu Group, that the Beechcraft T-6 Texan II Integrated Training System (ITS) has been selected to upgrade pilot training for the Japan Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF). This decision will enable Japan to join 14 additional countries that have opted for the T-6 Texan II, contributing to a total of over 1,000 T-6 aircraft disseminated globally.
The Beechcraft T-6 Texan II is conceived and produced by Textron Aviation Defense LLC, a wholly owned branch of Textron Aviation Inc.
“We take pride in providing the Japan Air Self-Defense Force with a reliable and exceptionally capable Integrated Training System that will fulfill their training requirements for years to come,” stated Travis Tyler, President and CEO, Textron Aviation Defense LLC. “This decision reinforces the effectiveness of our T-6 Texan II Integrated Training System in equipping a proficient, elite, and highly talented JASDF to tackle the challenges of the 21st century.”
The T-6 Texan II was chosen following a comprehensive and competitive assessment of training options presented by various bidders. The contract finalization is anticipated in 2025.
The JASDF is advancing its training protocol with an integrated approach that includes T-6 Texan II trainer aircraft, a thorough Ground Based Training System, training for instructor pilots and aircraft maintainers, as well as long-term logistic and support solutions. The Beechcraft T-6 Texan II will succeed the Fuji/Subaru T-7 aircraft which has served as the JASDF’s fundamental trainer for numerous years.
