Denmark Expands Fleet with New General Dynamics EAGLE 4×4 Armed Vehicles
The Danish Ministry of Defense has granted a CHF 46 million ($52.1 million) agreement to General Dynamics European Land Systems-Mowag (GDELS-Mowag) for the supply of 56 PATROL vehicles along with an initial prototype of the RECONNAISSANCE Open variant.
This secondary contract falls under the Armored Patrol Vehicle (APV) framework deal established by GDELS-Mowag and DALO in June 2017, following the selection of the EAGLE 4×4 as the winning bidder in the APV tender competition.
Shipping of the 57 vehicles is slated to commence by the conclusion of 2021 and will be finalized in 2022.
As highlighted by the company, the EAGLE vehicle series is compatible with NATO standards and is currently utilized by several military forces. It delivers a substantial payload capacity and a spacious secure interior, in addition to a versatile cargo area located at the rear of the vehicle. Depending on specific mission requirements, both 4×4 and 6×6 models are accessible.
The EAGLE’s survivability benchmarks provide validated mine, Improvised Explosive Device (IED), and ballistic defense, standards that were previously attainable only in vehicles with double its weight. These enhancements in protection and operational capability have been realized without sacrificing mobility or dependability.
