Finnish Armed Forces Enhance Capabilities with Advanced Laser Sights and Night Vision from Senop Oy

The Logistics Command of the Finnish Defence Forces has initiated a procurement for laser sights and supplementary NVG M40 image intensifiers from Senop Oy. The financial scope of the contract exceeds 13.6 M€ excluding VAT, with Senop slated to deliver the systems by the conclusion of October 2022.

The procurement includes Soldier’s Lasers, Tactical Lasers, and an additional acquisition of NVG M40 Monocular (FDF code: NVG M20) image intensifiers. The Senop Soldier’s Laser Sight M20 is lightweight, straightforward, and resilient, designed to endure high recoil and rigorously challenging conditions in military scenarios. The Senop Tactical Laser M20 is a versatile laser sight that combines a visible laser, an IR laser, and an IR illuminator. The Senop NVG M40 Monocular stands out as one of the lightest, high-performance night vision goggles available in the marketplace. The M40 employs state-of-the-art aspheric high-precision glass optics integrated with composite materials, ensuring exceptional usability and performance.

Senop’s laser sights and image intensifiers are created in close collaboration with the Finnish Defence Forces. Comprehensive field evaluations have been performed in demanding situations since 2019. Efficient energy management is a crucial aspect, particularly in Arctic environments. All these devices (laser sights and night vision goggles) are compatible with both AA and CCR123 batteries. The NVG M40 Monocular can also be outfitted with an external power source to extend operational time.

“In this initiative, the end user of the equipment, the soldier, has been the focal point,” Aki Korhonen, Managing Director of Senop, emphasizes. “Consequently, field evaluations and input from the testing team have been vital in the development process. Our engineers have facilitated operations in the field, thereby enhancing ergonomics and durability. The collaboration with the FDF has been outstanding,” Korhonen underscores.

Senop is forging new capabilities by customizing solutions in line with the specific needs and expectations of clients. Senop’s Defence & Security portfolio encompasses high-performance image intensifiers, night vision devices, intelligent thermal sights, portable target acquisition and observation systems, vehicle camera units, hyperspectral imaging systems, and versatile container-based platform solutions.
