FNSS Kicks Off Assembly of the Revolutionary PARS 6X6 Mine-Resistant Armored Vehicle
Crafted by FNSS and outfitted with numerous ‘Pioneering in Its Category’ features, the PARS 6×6 Mine Resistant WAV is poised to commence operations in the upcoming year.
Regarding the advancement, the President of the Defence Industry (SSB), Prof. Dr. İsmail DEMİR remarked: “We are on track to deliver our PARS 6X6 Mine Resistant Vehicle (MKKA) with ‘Pioneering in Category’ attributes to the Turkish Armed Forces (TAF) in ‘21. We persist on our journey to overcome various limitations and challenges through domestic manufacturing.”
The preliminary assembly of the PARS 6X6 MKKA tailored to meet the specifications of the Turkish Armed Forces under the Defence Industry Presidency commenced in July.
The launch meeting of the PARS 6×6 Mine Resistant Vehicle Programme, with FNSS Savunma Sistemleri Inc. as the primary contractor, was held at the company’s Ankara facilities, attended by Prof. Dr. İsmail DEMİR, representatives from the Ministry of National Defence (MoND), the Turkish Armed Forces (TAF), the General Directorate of Security, and stakeholders from the local defense industry.
In his address at the event, Prof. DEMİR highlighted that engineered with advanced protective capabilities for the secure deployment of troops on land, the integrated remote-controlled weapon system of the 6×6 PARS Vehicle would effectively neutralize threats in both urban environments and operational fields.
Prof. DEMİR indicated that the platform is designed for operational capability across diverse terrains with its 6×6 agility, stating; “Upon completion of the qualification assessments by the end of the year, all vehicles are anticipated to enter service in ‘21. This vehicle, characterized by a number of ‘Pioneering in Category’ features, possesses significant export potential. I genuinely hope that this highly sophisticated vehicle will greatly benefit our security forces and the TAF. We will commence with the delivery of 12 PARS 6×6 platforms and aspire to pursue further shipments.”
Furthering his comments, Prof. DEMİR stated: “We have been witnessing escalating attempts to impose restrictions and embargoes in recent years. Our domestic company developing this vehicle has pressed on, overcoming those challenges through localization strategies. We wish to extend our profound gratitude to all local enterprises and the corresponding supply chain, who have committed their efforts towards the localization initiative despite the obstacles, thereby elevating the National Technology Initiative. We are resolute in our determination to continue, where each new restriction becomes a catalyst for further enhancing our endeavors.”
The General Manager and CEO of FNSS Savunma Sistemleri Inc., Nail KURT, highlighted that the vehicles being manufactured under the PARS 6×6 MKKA Program have reached the initial assembly phase in a mere 15 months following initiation.
CEO KURT underscored that the platforms have been innovatively designed with capabilities surpassing those currently deployed and expressed confidence that once operational, they will substantially bolster the Turkish Armed Forces due to their cutting-edge survivability.
This program emphasizes robust industrial collaboration realized with local companies and organizations, notably ASELSAN Inc. and TÜBİTAK, the Turkish Scientific and Technical Research Institute, which will persist during the support phase post-deliveries. The Program gains further significance by addressing the technical and tactical needs of both the Turkish Armed Forces and global military forces seeking next-generation vehicles for future procurement and the adoption of modern Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) methodologies.
