GAMI’s Chief Applauds Saudi Leadership for Endorsing Innovative Defense Blueprint

The Chief of Saudi Arabia’s General Authority for Military Industries (GAMI), H.E. Ahmad Al-Ohali, conveyed his heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, along with His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, for the Council’s endorsement of the Kingdom’s eagerly awaited defense Sector strategy.

Al-Ohali remarked that this endorsement underscores the leadership’s ongoing commitment to empower the defense Sector in achieving its objectives, thereby bolstering the Kingdom’s strategic independence in defense, advancing local manufacturing capacities, and enhancing localization within this booming Sector. Furthermore, this strategy amplifies the Sector’s economic impact through Technology Transfer, fostering local entrepreneurship, and generating employment opportunities for the future innovators of tomorrow.

Founded pursuant to the Saudi Council of Ministers’ resolution in August 2017, the General Authority for Military Industries (GAMI) serves as the regulator, facilitator, and licenser of the Kingdom’s defense manufacturing sector.

GAMI is tasked with establishing a sustainable domestic defense industry that yields substantial social and economic advantages, while reinforcing the Kingdom’s independence, military preparedness, and national security.

GAMI’s objective is to localize 50% of Saudi Arabia’s military budget over the coming decade, in alignment with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030. To accomplish this, GAMI has pinpointed three vital strategic pillars: industry governance, procurement, and technology.

GAMI occupies a pivotal role within the Kingdom’s defense infrastructure, fostering transparency, capitalizing on synergies, and promoting intergovernmental collaboration to realize military industrial advancement.
