Rick Kewley Takes the Helm as GM Defense’s New Executive Chief Engineer
GM Defense LLC, a branch of General Motors, has designated Rick Kewley as the chief executive engineer. Kewley will oversee all facets of engineering and program implementation, utilizing the organization’s fundamental strengths in integrated vehicles, propulsion systems, mobility, and autonomy to fulfill customer demands for current and upcoming pursuits.
Kewley, a graduate of the United States Military Academy and a former U.S. Army officer, contributes 27 years of engineering and product development expertise from GM to GM Defense. He most recently held the position of executive director of GM Global Product Development Quality, where he advocated for engineering and product quality initiatives, enhancing customer satisfaction and reliability metrics across GM’s worldwide vehicle lineup.
“Rick’s capability to connect GM’s industry-leading commercial strengths with GM Defense’s objective to shape the future of military mobility is an ideal match,” stated Tim Herrick, interim president of GM Defense. “Rick is a distinguished leader, offering profound insights into complex vehicle system integration and essential technical proficiency. He will be a valuable addition to our expanding team and a reliable collaborator for our military and government clientele.”
“I’m privileged to guide product development initiatives at GM Defense and am confident that GM’s established product and manufacturing expertise provides a distinct advantage to the warfighter,” Kewley remarked. “As a veteran of the Army, I appreciate the significance that advanced technology and state-of-the-art capabilities can deliver to our military and government clients.”
Kewley’s engineering division will persist in the execution of the Infantry Squad Vehicle (ISV). The expeditionary ISV serves as a lightweight and nimble all-terrain troop transporter designed to carry a nine-Soldier infantry squad along with their gear across the battlefield. GM Defense received the contract in June 2020.
