IDV Secures Game-Changing Deal with Swedish Armed Forces for Up to 3,000 Versatile Light Vehicles

16 June 2023 – IDV, a division of Iveco Group N.V. (MI: IVG) focused on defense and civil protection apparatus, has finalized a framework agreement with the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration to furnish up to 3,000 light vehicles to the Swedish Armed Forces, commencing with an initial order of 400 vehicles valued at 850 million SEK (approximately 73 million EUR).

The up-to-nine-year framework agreement stipulates that IDV will deliver Light Multi-Purpose Vehicles (LMPV) configured as Military Utility Vehicles (MUV) in a 4×4 setup. These vehicles will ensure superior mobility, compatibility with military and NATO fuels, and adaptability to a wide range of climatic conditions from -32°C to +49°C. Moreover, the fleet will receive assurance for reliability and maintenance for up to 12 years through specialized Customer Logistic Support.

The MUV is offered in 12 distinct variants, including troop transport, medical, communications, and logistics, all adhering to NATO specifications. To meet the unique technical demands of the LMPV Project, IDV engineered tailored solutions and vehicle modifications. These customization needs encompass an enhancement of Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) performance for both the vehicles and their superstructures, thereby achieving full military compliance, in-cab configurations for the integration of communication and military gear, as well as bespoke superstructures for various roles and applications. This includes the capability to transport the Medical 2 variant within a C-130 aircraft while ensuring the operational efficiency of medical systems and critical care equipment.

This substantial order represents a vital advancement in IDV’s strategic business framework aimed at providing industry-leading defense solutions in a complicated international landscape.
