Iveco Defense Unveils Next-Gen GTF-8×8 Trucks for Bundeswehr’s Modern Military Needs
In January 2021, the German Bundeswehr – represented by BAAINBw (Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology, and In-Service Support) – has awarded Iveco Defence Vehicles a framework agreement for the provision of up to 1,048 military Trakker trucks to be delivered between 2021 and 2028.
The initiative will commence with an initial confirmed order of 224 units of 8×8 vehicles from the Iveco Defence ruggedized Trakker series, which will be offered in five distinct configurations optimized for 20” ISO-container transport, including models equipped with hydraulic cranes and winch systems. This marks another significant achievement and the subsequent advancement in the GTF family of the German Armed Forces.
All vehicles adhere to the latest EURO-6 emission standards (still prepared for single-fuel operation) and will be outfitted with a fortified cab that currently provides some of the top-tier levels of ballistic, mine, NBC, and IED defense. These cab designs also ensure a high degree of crew comfort and are structured to integrate various modern military communication and command frameworks.
In recent years, Iveco Defence Vehicles has supplied approximately 2,000 vehicles from its extensive product portfolio to the German Armed Forces, including reinforced bespoke variants (e.g., GTF 8×8 batches 1 and 2, TEP-90, STW-8×8, Tipper-8×8, Sideloader-8×8, ISO-container transport-8×8, and Tractor-6×6), which have already seen extensive deployment in operational environments.
Iveco Defence Vehicles proudly continues its strong collaboration with the German Army in the years ahead.
