Iveco Defence Vehicles Delivers Groundbreaking LMV-BR Unit to Enhance Brazilian Army Capabilities
In line with the agreement established in 2019, yesterday marked the delivery of the first of 32 LMV-BR vehicles to the Brazilian Army during a ceremony conducted at Iveco Defence Vehicles’ facility in Sete Lagoas (MG). The event saw attendance from representatives of both the company and the Brazilian Army. The remaining 31 units from this batch are scheduled for delivery by 2022 as part of the Army’s modernization initiatives.
Alongside the well-recognized standard attributes of LMV, each of these vehicles is equipped with tailored weaponry and Command and Control systems, tailored as per the client’s specifications. The LMV-BR was selected in 2015 by the Brazilian Army as the new Viatura Blindada Multitarefa, Leve de Rodas (VBMT-LR). The final assembly of these units occurs at the Sete Lagoas facility, where numerous national components are incorporated. The project anticipates the procurement of 186 units, and Iveco Defence Vehicles aims to commence production of the subsequent batches in 2022.
Iveco Defence Vehicles is currently furnishing the Brazilian Army with the Guarani VBTP 6×6 amphibious armored fleet. To date, over 480 units have been delivered since 2012, following the signing of the production agreement in 2009. Numerous VBTP 6×6 units have already been exported to various international clients.
The robust collaboration between Iveco Defence Vehicles and the Brazilian Army is now firmly established with this second product line, while the Sete Lagoas facility is highlighting its crucial role in reinforcing the National Defence industrial foundation within the land systems sector, supported by a highly qualified workforce and top-tier technical expertise alongside a network of local suppliers and partners.
