Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace (KDA), a branch of KONGSBERG, has established a contract with the Norwegian Ministry of Defence for the acquisition of Aerospace Industrial Maintenance Norway AS (AIM Norway), which represents the Norwegian armed forces’ business for the maintenance, refurbishment, and enhancement of the Air Force’s aircraft and helicopters. To further bolster AIM Norway’s capabilities, proficiency, and efficiency, KDA and Patria have reached an agreement regarding a shared ownership, with KDA holding 50.1% and Patria owning 49.9%.
Patria will bring valuable expertise and knowledge in aerospace maintenance, and both firms will collaboratively ensure a robust foundation for ongoing growth. This acquisition represents a logical evolution of Patria’s efforts for the Norwegian defense forces specifically in the helicopter sector, supporting their NH90 and Bell 412 fleets.
AIM Norway has been pivotal in the Norwegian aviation sector since 1916, employing 440 individuals and generating revenue of 113 million euros (2017). AIM Norway also possesses Belgium Engine Center (BEC), which operates primarily out of Herstal, near Liege in Belgium. BEC serves as a comprehensive resource for engine maintenance, repairs, and overhaul services.
