Boeing Takes Center Stage at Egypt International Airshow 2024: Spotlight on Defense and Commercial Innovations
Boeing will engage as a silver sponsor at the Egypt International Airshow 2024, taking place from Sept. 3-5 at El Alamein International Airport.
“We are thrilled to embrace the opportunity to interact with our Egyptian and regional collaborators at the inaugural Egypt International Airshow to exhibit every facet of our contribution to the aerospace sector, whether it involves our state-of-the-art products and services, our dedication to innovation and sustainability, or our significant community initiatives,” remarked Kuljit Ghata-Aura, President of Boeing Middle East, Türkiye, Africa, and Central Asia. “We sincerely value our cooperative relationships with our Egyptian and regional associates and are devoted to advancing our mutual vision for a resilient and secure future in aviation.”
Boeing’s defense emphasis at the exhibition will feature the T-7A, F-15EX, CH-47F, KC-46, and Insitu ScanEagle. The company’s commercial spotlight will showcase the 777X, 787, and 737 MAX. Static displays of Boeing customer aircraft will include a U.S. Air Force F-15, a Royal Saudi Air Force F-15SA, and Qatari Emiri Air Force AH-64E. On the commercial front, Egypt’s flag carrier EgyptAir will present its 787-9 Dreamliner.
Boeing will also emphasize its all-encompassing Boeing Global Services portfolio, which features sustainment, modifications, modernization, upgrades, training, and maintenance services, many of which are actively engaged to assist governments across the region.
“For more than four decades, Boeing has proudly aided the Egyptian Air Force in enhancing its defense capabilities,” stated Kirk Schultz, regional director, International Business Development, Boeing Defense, Space & Security. “From the initial acquisition of the F-4 Phantom II fighter to the latest contract for CH-47F Chinooks, our collaboration has adapted to fulfill the requirements of Egypt’s military.”
Boeing’s defense collaboration with Egypt commenced in 1979, when the Egyptian Air Force incorporated the F-4 Phantom II fighter. Currently, Egypt operates AH-64D Apache and CH-47D Chinook helicopters, which are vital for both defense and humanitarian missions. In early 2023, Boeing secured a contract to manufacture 12 new CH-47F Chinooks for the Egyptian Air Force, boosting its heavy-lift helicopter capabilities.

“Boeing continues to expand upon our 55-year association with Egypt,” expressed Omar Arekat, Boeing Commercial Airplanes Vice President for Middle East. “The commercial market in Egypt holds tremendous importance for Boeing, as it symbolizes not only a flourishing economy but also a gateway to connect individuals and enterprises across the region. Boeing remains committed to collaborating with Egypt to forge a sustainable aviation ecosystem.”
Boeing’s enduring relationship with Egypt’s commercial sector traces back to 1966, when EgyptAir made its initial order for three Boeing 707s. The airline currently operates 41 Boeing aircraft, including seven 787-9 Dreamliners, six 777-300ERs, and one of the region’s largest 737-800 fleets. EgyptAir’s recent intention to lease 18 new Boeing 737-8 aircraft was announced at the 2023 Dubai Airshow, reinforcing the airline’s trust in Boeing’s innovative technology and reliability.
