Thales Unveils Groundbreaking 2.75-Inch FZ275 Rocket, Now Approved for Arnold Defense’s LAND-LGR4 “FLETCHER” Launcher

New Thales 2.75-inch Rocket (FZ275) accredited for launching from Arnold Defense LAND-LGR4 “FLETCHER” launcher

Arnold Defense, the St. Louis headquartered producer of 70mm/2.75-inch rocket launchers, in collaboration with Thales, has successfully secured formal accreditation to launch the new Thales FZ275 70mm/2.75-inch Laser Guided Rocket (LGR) from the Arnold Defense LAND-LGR4 “FLETCHER” rocket launcher, during recent evaluations in Sweden.

This latest accreditation of the FZ275 LGR broadens the spectrum of Thales rockets that are compatible and authorized for deployment from Arnold Defense rocket launchers, particularly with the LAND-LGR 4 “FLETCHER” launcher. The fusion of the “FLETCHER” ground-based launcher and the FZ275 LGR (the most lightweight and far-reaching 70mm/2.75-inch LGR in its segment) delivers precision-guided accuracy against both stationary and moving targets, minimizing collateral damage for dismounted rapid reaction units. Such capability has traditionally been confined to aviation-mounted systems.

Thanks to attributes like a lightweight structure, advanced propellant design, and diminished FOD, Thales 70mm/2.75-inch rockets are utilized globally by over 75 armed forces spanning more than 50 nations. The rockets have also been formally embraced by numerous leading platform Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) who recognize their efficiency and dependability. Their ability to provide a singular rocket solution for various platforms—including aerial, vehicular, and terrestrial—offers unparalleled battlefield versatility.

Arnold Defense’s launchers are adaptable, enabling users to choose from a variety of accredited rocket systems tailored to meet their specific requirements or existing inventory. Incorporating the new Thales FZ275 70mm/2.75-inch rockets into the Arnold Defense accredited rocket portfolio significantly enhances their global service offerings.

Stéphane Bianchi, Director of the Airborne Armament business sector at Thales stated: “This is the second successful test firing and certification initiative in collaboration with Arnold Defense, enhancing both companies’ offerings to regular and Special Forces. Thales 70mm/2.75-inch rocket systems now serve as a comprehensive solution to ensure precision-guided accuracy against both stationary and mobile threats across all forms of delivery platforms, now inclusive of ground forces.”

Frank Ferrante, Vice President of Programs and Business Development at Arnold Defense remarked: “Arnold Defense is thrilled to have secured this additional accreditation following a successful sequence of live-fire tests. We can now incorporate the FZ275 Thales 70mm/2.75-inch rockets into the expansive array of rockets that can be launched from Arnold Defense systems, thereby enhancing the adaptability of our offerings to the global market.” He further noted, “Arnold Defense diligently strives to address our clients’ future requirements, and this initiative, in conjunction with Thales, significantly amplifies the capabilities available to ground troops operating in remote and unsupported zones, enhancing both the range and precision of their engagements without reliance on aerial platforms.”
