Nexter to Enhance French Army’s Arsenal with 18 New CAESAR® Units for the Ministry of Armed Forces
On July 13th, Nexter received notification from the French Ministry of the Armed Forces via the Direction Générale de l’Armement (DGA) regarding the order for new CAESAR® artillery systems. The units are set to be provided to the French Army by the summer of 2024, at the latest. Nexter, along with the DGA, has exhibited remarkable agility in initiating the production of 18 CAESAR® systems within a few short weeks. This expedited process aligns with a war-time economy strategy.
To ensure swift availability while waiting for the introduction of the CAESAR® MkII, which is scheduled to gradually equip the army’s artillery regiments starting from 2026, the Ministry of the Armed Forces has opted for the CAESAR® MkI.
The CAESAR® MkI represents the initial variant of this 155mm artillery system mounted on a truck chassis. As the lightest in its category (18t), it possesses an incredibly low logistical weight and illustrates unparalleled tactical, operational, and strategic mobility.
The CAESAR® stands out due to its exceptional performance levels.
Characterized by a rapid battery start-up (under one minute), a firing rate of 6 rounds per minute, and an impressive resupply capacity (18 rounds per minute), the CAESAR® delivers optimum efficiency.
Its 155mm/52 calibre cannon is the only model globally recognized as “long range proven” under conditions akin to high-intensity warfare. The adoption of the CAESAR® by several allied nations, particularly in Europe, including Denmark, the Czech Republic, Belgium, and Lithuania, demonstrates the confidence our clients have in this advanced equipment, which is showcasing its unmatched capabilities on the battlefield.
