Oshkosh Defense Secures $942.9 Million Contract to Revamp U.S. Army Stryker Infantry Carriers
The U.S. Army Contracting Command – Detroit Arsenal (ACC-DTA) has declared that it has granted Oshkosh Defense, an entirely owned division of Oshkosh Corporation (NYSE: OSK), a substantial contract worth $942.9 million to incorporate a 30mm Medium Caliber Weapon System (MCWS) onto the Stryker Double V Hull Infantry Carrier Vehicle (ICVVA1). This enhancement will deliver precise lethality capabilities to the Army’s Stryker Brigade Combat Team (SBCT).
Oshkosh Defense collaborated with Pratt Miller and Rafael Advanced Defense Systems to produce an MCWS that enhances lethality, precision, and range while ensuring the mobility and survivability of the Stryker ICVVA1. Oshkosh will adapt a 30mm weapon system to the ICVVA1 chassis, utilizing Rafael Advanced Defense Systems’ established SAMSON family of turrets. The contract encompasses the integration of the Oshkosh MCWS into three Stryker Brigade Combat Teams (SBCTs), as well as comprehensive technical support for the system, interim logistical support for contractors, and holistic product support.
“The Oshkosh team unified top-tier capabilities in weapon system design, manufacturing, and integration to offer a highly proficient solution that fulfills the current Stryker MCWS program criteria and provides the adaptability for future upgrades,” stated Pat Williams, Vice President and General Manager of U.S. Army and U.S. Marine Corps Programs for Oshkosh Defense. “Our seasoned team is eager to assist the Stryker program office in promptly fielding this capability to the Warfighter.”
The U.S. Army’s decision follows the conclusion of testing and evaluation of Production Representative Sample Systems (PRSS) at the Aberdeen Test Center in Maryland. The PRSS underwent thorough assessment against rigorous vehicle and turret performance criteria.
