“Oshkosh Defense’s RCV Chosen for Innovative Prototype Development”
Oshkosh Defense, LLC, a subsidiary of Oshkosh Corporation, declared today that it has been chosen by the U.S. Army, via the Ground Vehicle Systems Other Transaction Agreement (GVS OTA), to engage in Phase I, Platform Prototype Design and Build, of the Robotic Combat Vehicle (RCV) initiative.
Utilizing an exceptional team from Oshkosh Defense, Pratt Miller Defense, and QinetiQ, Oshkosh submitted its proposal in response to the Army’s Request for Prototype Proposal in May 2023.
“We are thrilled to be picked for Phase I of the RCV initiative,” remarked Pat Williams, chief programs officer at Oshkosh Defense. “We provide a mature and reliable solution with proven resilience and adaptability to integrate new technologies, addressing the requirements of a changing battlefield.”
The tracked, autonomous systems will accommodate various payloads and cutting-edge weaponry through scalable, mission-oriented modularity. Oshkosh will highlight the RCV capabilities from October 9 – 11 at their booth (#739) during the 2023 AUSA Annual Meeting and Exposition. Earlier this year, Oshkosh showcased the platform’s critical versatility at the 2023 AUSA Global Force Symposium.
“Our RCV is shaped by years of client insights and customized to fulfill the expectations of the Soldier,” Williams added. “We eagerly anticipate furthering our collaboration with the Army to provide a soldier-focused, purpose-built solution.”
Oshkosh will provide two platform prototypes for evaluation in August 2024. The Army has expressed its intention to select one supplier for Phase II, Full-System Prototype Design and Build, in FY24.
