Saab Secures Norwegian Military Training Contract
Saab has secured a contract for the maintenance and service of the Norwegian Combat Training Centre. The contract value is around 200 MSEK and will be effective from October 2020 until October 2024, with the potential for an extension of three additional years.
Saab’s agreement encompasses operational system support and the establishment of a supplementary site in the northern region of Norway. Since 2004, Saab has collaborated with Norway in providing training and simulation systems.
“We are delighted to extend our ongoing support for the training systems of the Norwegian Defence Forces. We will ensure continued interoperability with NATO and various allied nations, while also enhancing capabilities for our Norwegian partner through the establishment of another site,” remarks Åsa Thegström, head of the Training & Simulation business unit in Saab’s Dynamics sector.
The Norwegian Defence Forces will maintain the capacity to conduct training exercises with units up to brigade size both domestically and internationally. The ability to interact with NATO and other nations remains a critical component for multinational live drills with simulators, particularly with training allies like the US, Sweden, Finland, and the Netherlands.
