RTX Secures $345 Million Contract to Supply Cutting-Edge Stormbreaker Smart Munitions to the U.S. Air Force

The U.S. Air Force has granted Raytheon, a division of RTX, a substantial contract valued at $345 million to manufacture and supply over 1,500 StormBreaker® advanced munitions.

StormBreaker is the premier air-to-ground, network-enabled munition capable of targeting mobile objectives under all weather circumstances utilizing its multi-functional warhead and tri-mode seeker technology.

“Deployed on two aircraft platforms with assessments in progress for additional ones, StormBreaker has firmly established its reputation as the foremost network-enabled armament throughout the Department of Defense,” stated Paul Ferraro, president of Air Power at Raytheon.

“With this contract, we will persist in advancing StormBreaker’s manufacturing to fulfill the requirements of military personnel for years ahead.” StormBreaker is employed on the F-15E Strike Eagle and F/A-18E/F Super Hornet, while evaluations are ongoing for all variants of the F-35.

Among various platforms, StormBreaker successfully completed 28 test releases in 2023.
