Sweden Teams Up for the Exciting 6×6 Vehicle Initiative!
Sweden has publicly declared its intention to become part of the Finnish-led CAVS initiative (Common Armoured Vehicle System), which is also accessible to additional nations with the collective agreement of the involved countries.
The initiative commenced in 2019 as a collaborative project involving Finland, Latvia, and Estonia. It advanced to the research and product development stage with Latvia in autumn 2020. Latvia placed an order for over 200 personnel carrier armoured vehicles in August 2021, with Patria delivering the first units to Latvia by late October. Subsequently, the Finnish Ministry of Defence and Patria have formalized a letter of intent to procure 160 new personnel carrier vehicles for Finland in 2023.
“This achievement is pivotal for the entire initiative. Enhanced collaboration and networking among the nations will boost mobility, cost-efficiency, cooperative abilities, and maintenance proficiency of the involved countries. Additionally, the outcome of this initiative presents a highly cost-effective solution for the participating nations,” remarks Jussi Järvinen, President of Patria’s Land Business Unit.
