Argentina’s Military Secures Next-Gen RBS 70 for Enhanced Defense
Saab has secured a contract for the supply of the short-range aerial defense systems RBS 70 NG to the Argentine Armed Forces.
The Argentine Navy has been utilizing the RBS 70 since 1984 and is now transitioning to the advanced RBS 70 NG. This agreement involves an additional extension of the nation’s adoption of the RBS 70 NG system to include the Air Force and the Army. Consequently, the RBS 70 NG systems, training simulators, and missiles provided will be employed by the Argentine Army, Navy, and Air Force.
“We are eager to enhance the aerial defense capabilities of the Argentinian Armed Forces. With this system, they will possess the most cutting-edge short-range air defense solution available, featuring resilient laser guidance as well as an integrated night vision capability,” states Görgen Johansson, head of Saab’s business sector Dynamics.
RBS 70 NG represents the latest advancement in Saab’s ground-based short-range aerial defense technology. With this contract, five countries have finalized agreements for RBS 70 NG, which includes the Czech Republic, Brazil, and Sweden.
