Oshkosh Secures Continued Partnership with U.S. Army for FHTV Fleet Innovation and Production Boost
The U.S. Army Contracting Command has proclaimed that it has granted Oshkosh Defense, a fully owned arm of Oshkosh Corporation (NYSE: OSK), a three-year prolongation to the FHTV IV agreement along with preliminary delivery orders valued at $146.8 Million.
With this extension, Oshkosh will supply fresh and refurbished Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Trucks (HEMTT), Palletized Load System (PLS) vehicles and trailers, along with Heavy Equipment Transporters (HET). The initial delivery orders demand a total of 353 new and refurbished units.
“For many years, we’ve collaborated closely with the U.S. Army to enhance the FHTV fleet, and we are privileged that they’ve chosen us to continue delivering these essential vehicles to our Soldiers,” stated Pat Williams, Vice President and General Manager of U.S. Army and Marine Corps Programs for Oshkosh Defense. “We anticipate working with the U.S. Army to further advance the FHTV fleet to fulfill both current and upcoming missions.”
One vital feature of the FHTV’s construction is its ability to accommodate a wide range of functions. The FHTV’s adaptable design also incorporates additional functionalities such as Condition Based Maintenance (CBM), Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), autonomous operations, on-board power generation, and various other established technologies.
Oshkosh Defense received the FHTV IV contract for the first time in 2015. Since the commencement of FHTV production, the company has manufactured over 35,800 HEMTTs, 8,500 PLS units, and 4,600 HETs, while also refurbishing over 14,000 HEMTTs, 3,500 PLS vehicles, and 1,000 HETs.
