U.S. Army Unveils Cutting-Edge SIG SAUER Weaponry for Tomorrow’s Soldiers
SIG SAUER is privileged to receive the Next Generation Squad Weapons System (NGSW) Contract from the U.S. Army after an extensive 27-month evaluation and testing process.
“The U.S. Army is taking a courageous stride towards dominance in the 21st-century battlefield, and SIG SAUER is incredibly honored to be the chosen supplier for this groundbreaking evolution in infantry armaments. The deployment of the SIG SAUER Next Generation Squad Weapons System will fundamentally alter the dynamics of military confrontations for America’s servicemen and women through American ingenuity and production,” stated Ron Cohen, President and CEO of SIG SAUER, Inc.

The SIG FURY Hybrid Ammunition (6.8 Common Cartridge), SIG-LMG (XM250), SIG MCX-SPEAR Rifle (XM5), and SIG SLX Suppressors significantly enhance soldier weaponry technology to fulfil the evolving demands of the U.S. Army.
The SIG 6.8×51 FURY Hybrid Ammunition employs a unique lightweight metallic casing crafted to withstand pressures beyond those of typical ammunition, leading to a remarkable increase in velocity and on-target energy in lighter armaments.
The SIG-LMG lightweight belt-fed machine gun and the SIG MCX-SPEAR Rifle are meticulously designed to utilize the energy from the SIG FURY 6.8 Common Cartridge Ammunition, which provides extended range and heightened lethality while alleviating the soldier’s burden on the battlefield. Both the SIG-LMG and MCX-SPEAR deliver noteworthy advancements in weaponry and technology, creating a solution for battlefield superiority compared to the existing M249 and M4/M4A1 models.

The U.S. Army’s acquisition of the NGSW System signifies the dawn of an era where combat weapons are paired with suppressors as standard issue. The SIG SLX Suppressors are engineered to minimize harmful gas blowback, sound signature, and muzzle flash. With a patented quick-detach mechanism, SIG SLX Suppressors ensure easy installation and removal.
“We applaud the vision of U.S. Army leadership for embarking on this monumental procurement process aimed at providing a transformational weapon system for our servicemen and women. This accolade is the result of a successful partnership between SIG SAUER and the U.S. Army, and we eagerly anticipate the continuation of this collaboration,” Cohen concluded.

SIG SAUER is a company fueled by innovation, and we are excited to present the enhancements of the NGSW System through the SIG 277 FURY Hybrid Ammunition (the commercial variant of the SIG 6.8×51 FURY Ammunition), the SIG MCX-SPEAR Rifle, and the SIG SLX Series of Suppressors now available to consumers.
