“France Eyes Saab’s GlobalEye: Ushering in a Revolutionary Age of Surveillance”

Saab along with the French defense procurement authority, Direction générale de l’armement (DGA), has today formalized a joint declaration of intent regarding the procurement of Saab’s GlobalEye Advanced Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) aircraft by France, which includes ground support apparatus, training, and expert assistance.

This joint declaration of intent, executed today at the Paris Air Show, outlines DGA’s intention to procure two GlobalEye aircraft from Saab. Furthermore, the declaration offers DGA the option to secure an additional two aircraft.

A definitive notification procedure to conclude the procurement will now follow. The DGA has indicated that a contract is expected to be finalized in the approaching months. The involved entities have yet to establish a formal contract, and Saab has not yet obtained an order for GlobalEye from France.

“We are thankful for today’s announcement from France concerning the plan to acquire GlobalEye, which will greatly enhance the situational awareness and threat detection capabilities of the French Armed Forces across aerial, terrestrial, and maritime areas.
