General Dynamics Secures $1.2 Billion Deal to Enhance U.S. Army’s Stryker IM-SHORAD Fleet

General Dynamics Land Systems (GDLS), a division of General Dynamics (NYSE:GD), has been granted a $1.219 billion contract to manufacture, assess, and supply Interim Maneuver Short-Range Air Defense (IM-SHORAD) systems for the U.S. Army. The Army’s initial request under this agreement includes 28 Stryker IM-SHORAD vehicles valued at $230 million.

“General Dynamics, alongside our partners Leonardo DRS and Raytheon, is excited to collaborate with the Army to deliver this robust capability to U.S. Soldiers,” stated Don Kotchman, Vice President and General Manager of GD Land Systems. “This dedicated SHORAD capability introduces a novel operational dimension to the Stryker fleet across all of the Army’s maneuver units.”

The IM-SHORAD is engineered to counter threats posed by Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) as well as a variety of other rotary and fixed-wing aircraft, offering a unified Army platform that is economically efficient, highly mobile, resilient, sustainable, and easily transportable.

Stryker remains an exceptionally coveted platform beyond the Stryker Brigade Combat Team units.

Worksites and financing will be established with each order, with a projected completion deadline of September 30, 2025. GD Land Systems has production facilities located in Tallahassee, Florida; Scranton, Pennsylvania; London, Ontario; Lima, Ohio; and Anniston, Alabama.
