Leonardo Unveils Cutting-Edge Vessel for the Royal Bahrain Navy
The sixth naval vessel “Al Taweelah” has been thoroughly modernized and is armed with cutting-edge technologies, including the latest Leonardo’s Combat Management Systems (CMS), which can synthesize and manage real-time data from various sensors installed on board.
This accomplishment showcases Leonardo’s dedication to supporting the Bahraini Defence Forces and its distinguished prowess in the naval sector.
Currently, over 70 global Navies have opted for Leonardo’s systems and innovations to outfit more than 1,000 maritime units.
Recently, during an event at Mina Salman at the Royal Bahrain Navy Headquarters, Leonardo successfully handed over the final upgraded naval vessel, “Al Taweelah,” after completing all Integrated Sea Acceptance Tests (ISAT). This significant milestone finalizes a contract established in 2015 with the Bahrain Defence Forces.
Similar to the preceding units, the upgrade of Al Taweelah incorporates a new armament control system, training provisions, and logistical assistance. Thanks to Leonardo’s advanced Combat Management System (CMS), an embodiment of the company’s technological prowess, the vessel is now capable of seamlessly integrating and managing real-time information from diverse onboard sensors. The CMS facilitates the automatic coordination of armaments concerning threat evaluation, operational planning, and weaponry management during encounters.
For maritime operations, Leonardo’s offerings range from comprehensive combat management systems for maritime surveillance and safety to naval artillery, munitions, subaqueous systems for all classes of military vessels, manned and unmanned platforms, and advanced sensors. It encompasses the most sophisticated naval training and maintenance solutions, along with satellite systems and services for earth observation and geolocation, marine environmental analysis, and maritime safety. Presently, over 70 international Navies have selected Leonardo’s systems and technologies to outfit upwards of 1,000 vessels.
Bahrain, along with other nations in the Gulf region, can further benefit from Leonardo’s expertise within the naval domain, where the enterprise has an extensive history in upgrading corvettes, offshore patrol boats, and frigates, as well as in the terrestrial sector, where it provides fully integrated solutions, combat systems, and economical overhaul programs.
