Leonardo Unveils State-of-the-Art Vessel for Royal Bahrain Naval Forces
The sixth naval vessel “Al Taweelah,” completely enhanced, features cutting-edge systems, including the latest Leonardo Combat Management Systems (CMS), capable of integrating and synchronizing in real-time all data from diverse sensors mounted onboard.
This accomplishment underscores Leonardo’s dedication to assisting the Bahraini Defence Forces and its expertise in the naval arena.
Currently, over 70 global Navies have opted for Leonardo systems and technologies to equip more than 1,000 vessels.
Last week, during a ceremony at the Royal Bahrain Navy Headquarters in Mina Salman, Leonardo successfully delivered the final of six revamped naval ships, the “Al Taweelah,” after successfully completing all Integrated Sea Acceptance Tests (ISAT). This significant milestone follows and fulfills an agreement finalized in 2015 with the Bahrain Defence Forces.
Similar to the preceding units, the Al Taweelah upgrade encompasses a modern weapon control system, extensive training services, and logistical support. Thanks to Leonardo’s advanced Combat Management System (CMS), exemplifying the company’s high technological standards, the vessel is now equipped to integrate and synchronize real-time data from various onboard sensors. The CMS facilitates the automated coordination of weapons systems regarding threat evaluation, operational planning, and armament management during combat scenarios.
For naval operations, Leonardo’s offerings range from comprehensive combat management systems for maritime surveillance and security to naval artillery, munitions, underwater systems for all military vessel classes, both manned and unmanned vehicles, and sensors. It also incorporates highly advanced naval training and maintenance services as well as satellite systems for Earth observation, geo-location, marine environmental surveillance, and maritime safety. Presently, over 70 international Navies have selected Leonardo systems and technologies to equip more than 1,000 vessels.
Bahrain, alongside other Gulf nations, can greatly benefit from Leonardo’s proficiency in the naval sector, where the company has established a successful history in the modernization of corvettes, offshore patrol vessels, and frigates, as well as in the land domain, where comprehensive integrated solutions, warfare systems, and economical overhaul programs are offered.
