Hanwha Aerospace Enters Game-Changing Partnership with HSW for Revolutionary Krab Chassis Development

Hanwha Aerospace and HSW S.A. have formalized a deal for the supply of chassis components for 87 Krab Self-Propelled Howitzers, setting a new benchmark in a decade-long partnership between these two influential industries.

With an estimated worth of around USD 280 million, the contract guarantees that Hanwha Aerospace will furnish Krab elements from 2026 to 2028. This agreement also includes the supply of powerpacks for the Self-Propelled Howitzer (SPH) Krab, a crucial artillery asset leveraged by the Polish Armed Forces. The Krab is a 155mm/52-caliber SPH engineered and manufactured in Poland by HSW S.A. in collaboration with Hanwha.

The signing ceremony transpired at the HSW headquarters in Stalowa Wola, attended by notable representatives from both organizations, including Mr. Jaeil Son, President and CEO of Hanwha Aerospace; Mr. Wojciech Kdeziera, President of the Management Board and General Director of Huta Stalowa Wola S.A.; Mr. Arkadiusz Bąk, President of the Management Board, General Director of PGZ S.A.; Mr. Dongyeon Kim, Leader of the Land Systems Business Group at Hanwha Aerospace; and Mr. Billy Boo-hwan Lee, CEO of Hanwha Aerospace Europe.

“About ten years ago, we initiated our journey with the original KRAB program,” Mr. Son stated during the event. “The successful delivery of those 120 units not only exemplified the integration of technologies from both organizations but also established a sturdy alliance between our nations.”

Mr. Son elaborated, “Hanwha Aerospace is devoted to aiding HSW in the pursuit of our nations’ self-sufficiency, leveraging HSW’s outstanding facilities and technical expertise.”

In 2014, Hanwha engaged in a partnership to supply chassis components for the Krab howitzer, followed by another agreement in 2023. This most recent contract signifies the third of its kind.
