BAE Systems Accelerates Production of F-35’s Next-Gen Electronic Warfare Capabilities

BAE Systems, Inc. is supplying Lockheed Martin with enhanced electronic warfare (EW) solutions, upgrade kits, and spares for the F-35 Lightning II fighter jets. This agreement builds upon BAE Systems’ punctual delivery of over 800 advanced AN/ASQ-239 electronic warfare/countermeasure systems to date, equipping F-35 aircraft with essential situational awareness and survivability features.

“We’ve provided state-of-the-art electronic warfare solutions for every F-35 fighter,” stated Deb Norton, vice president of F-35 Solutions at BAE Systems. “Our team is dedicated to manufacturing excellence and operational execution, offering flexible, responsive systems to stay ahead of present and emerging threats.”

This Lot 16 contract arises as BAE Systems finalizes Lot 14 systems and processes material orders for Lot 15. The organization is presently producing 18 shipsets each month while gearing up to exceed 20 shipsets monthly in 2022 to align with F-35 aircraft Low Rate Initial Production.

The AN/ASQ-239 EW system delivers sophisticated offensive and defensive capabilities that empower the F-35 to confront complex and highly capable adversaries. The groundbreaking system is engineered for optimal performance, manufacturability, sustainability, and future upgradability.
