Exail Lands Revolutionary European Defense Deal for Advanced DriX Unmanned Surface Craft
French tech firm Exail has announced a major defense contract with a European nation for the supply of five DriX H-8 Uncrewed Surface Vehicles (USVs). This deal marks the largest procurement to date for the DriX system and signifies a critical leap in its operational implementation for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) missions.
Originally designed for hydrographic tasks, the DriX H-8 has evolved into a multifunctional, adaptable USV that operates proficiently in both shallow and deep waters. Its versatility enables deployment across a wide range of civilian and military maritime operations.
The DriX system has already gained traction among elite naval forces, including the U.S. Navy and the French Navy. It has demonstrated its capabilities during joint exercises such as NATO’s REPMUS and Task Force X initiatives.
“This contract highlights the growing strategic need for unmanned maritime ISR solutions, and we are honored that DriX has been selected to fulfill that requirement,” remarked Jérôme Bendell, Head of Exail Maritime Systems Business Line. “It also stands as a strong endorsement of DriX’s reliability, maturity, and operational relevance.”
Bendell added: “We are thankful for the trust placed in us by this European partner. At Exail, we continue to focus on promoting innovation to bolster global maritime security.”
