Charting Uncharted Waters: BlueHalo Teams Up with Kraken for Groundbreaking Maritime Autonomy
ARLINGTON, VA and LONDON, UK — BlueHalo, the company transforming the landscape of global defense, and Kraken Technology Group, a maritime tech leader known for its innovative high-performance platforms, today announced a strategic partnership to integrate BlueHalo’s advanced Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML)-driven autonomous operational systems into Kraken’s coastal security solutions. This collaboration seeks to develop next-generation uncrewed surface vehicles (USV) and uncrewed surface/sub-surface vehicles (USSV), along with multi-domain ‘marsupial’ capabilities.
Through this synergy, both firms will work together to embed BlueHalo’s leading-edge autonomous technologies into a range of Kraken vessels, including the K3 SCOUT USV, the K4 MANTA USSV, and the K5 KRAKEN Gunship. Their collaborative efforts will promote substantial enhancements in maritime autonomy and create innovative coastal capabilities aligned with critical national security needs. BlueHalo will also integrate its Titan and SkyView Radio Frequency (RF)-based counter-uncrewed aircraft system (C-UAS) technologies as payload within the K3, K4, and K5 series, bolstering mobile maritime UAS detection and neutralization capabilities.
“This initiative to venture into maritime operations is one of several strategies we’ve been planning as part of our long-term vision. The ability to quickly and effectively adapt our cutting-edge technologies to related fields allows us to surpass competitors and expand BlueHalo’s safeguarding reach,” remarked Jonathan Moneymaker, Chief Executive Officer of BlueHalo. “Kraken’s innovative drive and commitment to client success align seamlessly with our principles, and we are eager to unveil these groundbreaking solutions to the industry.”
“Working closely with BlueHalo on the integration of the K3 has unveiled clear synergies in both vision and expertise. This partnership allows Kraken and BlueHalo to disseminate these innovations across our additional vessels and explore further avenues to address essential customer needs,” stated Mal Crease, Founder and CEO of Kraken Technology Group. “Delivering transformative capabilities expeditiously is our primary objective, and this alliance secures our ability to respond to the ever-increasing market demands.”
The BlueHalo AI/ML-driven autonomous platform will serve as the primary core for independent operations and functionalities within the Kraken USV and USSV—managing mission-centric tasks, maintaining situational awareness, communicating directives to the autonomous maritime controller, enabling multi-vessel swarming, and supporting hybrid maritime and terrestrial “marsupial” functions.
BlueHalo possesses comprehensive technical proficiency in delivering advanced autonomous capabilities, encompassing R&D, engineering, systems development, fabrication, prototyping, manufacturing, integration, and sustainment initiatives. This expertise led to the development of HaloSwarm—a revolutionary, autonomous drone swarming technology unparalleled in mission efficiency and performance, previously unavailable to defense personnel. The company also offers a complete ecosystem of uncrewed solutions meticulously designed for any setting, including the Intense Eye UAS, featured on the U.S. Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) Blue UAS Cleared List for thoroughly vetted and policy-compliant commercial UAS.
Kraken boasts a proven track record of rapidly designing and producing groundbreaking, scalable coastal platforms in significant volumes. The K3 SCOUT is an economical, low-signature, high-performance autonomous multi-mission USV suitable for both commercial and military uses. The K4 MANTA is a novel, innovative scalable platform currently in development, engineered to carry multi-mission payloads over extensive distances before submerging for covert infiltration, ongoing reconnaissance, or loitering operations. The K5 KRAKEN will be a quintessential, purpose-built, high-performance coastal gunship, adept at swift solo or swarming precision strikes in defense of coastal or maritime assets.
