Soaring High: Little Rock AFB Celebrates Arrival of Landmark C-130J

The 61st Airlift Squadron at Little Rock Air Force Base, Arkansas, has officially received a significant milestone with the delivery of the Lockheed Martin C-130J Super Hercules airlifter on June 20. This marks the final delivery of the C-130J-30 variant for the squadron, which currently operates a fleet comprising 14 state-of-the-art Super Hercules airlifters.

Gen. Carlton D. Everhart II, the commander of Air Mobility Command based at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois, had the honor of ferrying the aircraft from the Lockheed Martin Aeronautics facility. A seasoned command pilot, Everhart has amassed over 4,500 flight hours throughout his career, notably flying C-130E/H aircraft.

The 61st Airlift Squadron, a key player in air mobility since 1956, is part of the Air Mobility Command’s 19th Airlift Wing. This wing is home to another unit operating the Super Hercules: the 41st Airlift Squadron. Notably, the 19th Airlift Wing boasts one of the largest C-130J fleets in the U.S. Air Force, with a total of 28 Super Hercules aircraft in service.
