Lockheed Secures $286 Million Deal Adjustment to Enhance Saudi Arabia’s THAAD Defense System

Lockheed Martin has obtained a $286.5 million contract amendment with the Missile Defense Agency to further assist Saudi Arabia in managing and operating its Terminal High Altitude Area Defense system.

The corporation will deliver equipment, spare components, and support services to facilitate ground production, upkeep, software enhancements, training, and logistics for Saudi Arabia’s THAAD through the Foreign Military Sales initiative, as reported by the Department of Defense on Thursday.

Activities related to this amendment will mainly occur in Dallas, Texas, and Sunnyvale, California, until Aug. 31, 2027.

This latest contract comes after a prior amendment granted in March for phase two of the THAAD Foreign Military Sales initiative.

Lockheed stated that it engineered the THAAD system to shield forces from short- and medium-range ballistic projectiles.
