Lockheed Martin Unveils New Precision Missile for Enhanced US Army Capabilities

The U.S. Army’s Aviation and Missile Center has chosen Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) to create a cutting-edge propulsion Long Range Maneuverable Fires (LRMF) missile. This missile is capable of being launched from current Army platforms to neutralize remote threats at distances that notably surpass those of the PrSM baseline.

“Lockheed Martin is collaborating with the U.S. Army to provide soldiers a pronounced advantage in combat by enhancing their operational range,” stated Steven Botwinik, vice president of Advanced Programs Execution and Transition at Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control. “With over fifty years of experience in integrating innovative propulsion systems and supporting the Army’s precision fires network, we are equipped to devise a solution that considerably amplifies PrSM’s reach.”

Phase 1 centers on design and risk-mitigation initiatives, with optional subsequent phases culminating in flight test demonstrations. After successful flight evaluations, LRMF will transition to the U.S. Army’s Strategic and Operational Rockets and Missiles (STORM) project office to contribute to the development of an extended-range Precision Strike Missile (PrSM) Increment (Inc.) 4.

In pursuit of remarkably extended ranges considering launcher volume limitations, Lockheed Martin’s approach will incorporate distinctive design features and critical technologies to tackle size and endurance obstacles.
