“Saab Unveils Fourth GlobalEye: Strengthening UAE’s Defense Horizon”

Saab has provided yet another GlobalEye Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) aircraft to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), signifying the delivery of the fourth advanced AEW&C unit to the UAE within just four years.

The transfer occurred on 18 April 2024 and follows Saab’s earlier shipments of three GlobalEye systems to the UAE in 2020 and 2021.

“I am delighted to announce the fourth delivery of our industry-leading AEW&C platform GlobalEye to the UAE and to continue aiding its operational readiness and mission effectiveness. The swift pace of deliveries in the GlobalEye initiative underscores our exceptional in-house capabilities, allowing us to oversee the entire process, from design to integration,” states Micael Johansson, President and CEO of Saab.

The UAE has requested a total of five GlobalEye aircraft from Saab, with the original agreement established in 2015 and a procurement for two additional units confirmed in 2021.

GlobalEye represents a sophisticated multi-domain AEW&C framework equipped with a variety of active and passive sensors that facilitate long-distance detection and identification of objects in the air, at sea, and on land. By delivering real-time intelligence to air force, army, and navy forces, GlobalEye significantly enhances situational awareness of surrounding regions and allows for the early recognition of threats.
