Egypt Elevates Its Air Power: Joining the C-130J Super Hercules Family with Lockheed Martin

The Egyptian Armed Forces declared today at the Egypt International Air Show that Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) will provide two C-130J-30 Super Hercules tactical airlifters to the Egyptian Air Force (EAF) via a Foreign Military Sale (FMS) with the U.S. Air Force. Egypt is the 23rd country to become part of the global Super Hercules operation community.

As the most sophisticated and established tactical airlifter in the globe, the C-130J-30 offers enhanced functionality, greater adaptability, and increased power to EAF crews. Egypt operates one of the largest C-130H fleets worldwide, significantly impacting the Middle East North Africa (MENA) region by facilitating military, peacekeeping, humanitarian, and natural disaster response missions. Egypt joins seven MENA nations that have selected the C-130J as their preferred medium-sized tactical airlifter and tanker.

“Egypt is an esteemed C-130 operator, utilizing its Hercules fleet to fulfill some of the more demanding mission requirements,” stated Rod McLean, vice president and general manager of Lockheed Martin’s Air Mobility & Maritime Missions division. “Welcoming Egypt to the C-130J Super Hercules global fleet is a privilege that genuinely reflects the enduring partnership between our two nations and Lockheed Martin. With these new C-130J-30s, the Egyptian Air Force’s tactical airlift capability will provide unparalleled abilities and coordinated force enhancement to serve Egypt, North Africa, and the globe.”

Constantly advancing, perpetually innovating, and prepared for future challenges, the Super Hercules spearheads the movement by setting benchmarks and defining the future of tactical airlift missions, presenting numerous benefits that no other medium-sized tactical airlifter can match in production or operation today. Thus far, Lockheed Martin has delivered over 545 C-130Js, and the Super Hercules global fleet has exceeded 3 million flight hours.

Super Hercules features include proven operational readiness with the utmost ease of transition, enhanced reliability, superior tactical airlift and combat airdrop proficiency, certification by over 20 airworthiness authorities, and improved survivability. The C-130J also provides exceptional interoperability with NATO and allied nations, robust industrial collaborations, and confirmed low life-cycle costs with significant fuel efficiencies, leading to a reduced carbon footprint compared to other medium-sized jet airlifters.
