Rheinmetall: Powering the Spanish Army with 100,000+ Mortar Rounds!
Rheinmetall has secured yet another contract from the Spanish government in the upper double-digit million euro bracket. The conglomerate is tasked with delivering a total of 104,000 mortar shells in 60mm, 81mm, and 120mm calibres to the Spanish army by the conclusion of 2025. The framework accord established in the first quarter of 2024 marks the second contract and includes an option for expansion for an additional two years.
The mortar shells requested will be utilized by various infantry units of the Spanish army, specifically in high explosive, smoke, and illumination projectile variations. Depending on the calibre and artillery system employed, they possess varying firing ranges from 2.59 km (60mm) to 8.25 km (120mm).
