Innovative Seafaring Solutions: A Synergy with Thales Group
The British maritime technology firm Kraken Technology Group (KTG) has today revealed that it has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Thales for the continuous advancement and supply of customized systems for the Kraken K50 maritime precision engagement platform. The K50 is engineered to provide unmatched levels of performance, modularity, and operational capabilities for contemporary green-water security missions.
Additional spheres of collaboration and enhancement will encompass the creation of sophisticated composite high-performance vessels, alongside tailored electric and advanced hybrid powertrain systems, all of which will be manufactured at a new state-of-the-art engineering and technology center.
Thales will furnish the capacity to amalgamate a variety of sensor and weaponry systems with
scalable command and control, communications, and networking solutions. Thales has further pinpointed the globally recognized Lightweight Multi-role Missile (LMM) as a potential candidate for incorporation into the Kraken system. LMM, also referred to as ‘Martlet’, demonstrates proficiency in air defense and surface assaults, capable of neutralizing various threats such as Fast Inshore Attack Craft (FIAC), UAVs, and fast jets, making it an ideal fit for Kraken’s foundational principles of high performance, versatile usage, and adaptability. This integration will occur alongside Thales’ additional partners MSI-DSL, who are innovating a new lightweight launcher compatible with LMM.
Mal Crease, Founder and CEO of Kraken Technology Group, remarked:
“We are immensely delighted to be collaborating with one of the most reputable names in the Defense and Security sector, and we anticipate working jointly to meet the escalating demand for advanced powertrain and modular composite structure solutions within the precision engagement arena.”
Ivor Humphrey, Business Development Executive at Thales, added:
“This partnership epitomizes Thales’ strategy towards alliances and nurturing relationships, leveraging exceptional platform capabilities to enrich the offerings and options for the end user. Moreover, collaborating with KTG to foster a UK enterprise that can contribute to the prosperity of the UK, while concurrently exploring ways to partner with our global network of clients to capitalize on local opportunities.”
