Anschütz Unveils 58 Cutting-Edge SYNTACS Systems for HSI-32 Interceptor Fleet

Anschütz has provided cohesive mission solutions for navigation and Command and Control (C2) for a total of 58 HSI-32 high-speed interceptors constructed by the French shipyard CMN, part of the CMN NAVAL shipbuilding conglomerate, for the Royal Saudi Naval Forces. As the final vessels in this series prepare to enter operational status, the systems aboard the previously delivered ships have already shown their capabilities in real-world use. These vessels are presently undergoing enhancements, which include the integration of missiles and upgraded secure communication functionalities.

At the core of the Anschütz mission solutions is SYNTACS, a groundbreaking, effective, and scalable C2 offering supplied in a package with integrated navigation and communication. This empowers operators both at sea and on land with comprehensive, unparalleled situational awareness and total command of the mission from any workstation.

“With our mission solutions centered around the SYNTACS C2 system, we have conceived and delivered a unified solution that not only showcases exceptional performance in maritime situational awareness and coastal protection but also provides sustainable additional value to our clientele,” stated Dr. Thomas Lehmann, Head of the Business Unit for Integrated Mission Systems at Anschütz.

Unlike traditional systems that may involve navigation systems, combat systems, sensors, and actuators from various suppliers, Anschütz’s SYNTACS consolidates all these capabilities into a single streamlined package. This contributes to simplifying installation, training, as well as maintenance, and ultimately decreases the related expenses at the shipyard — consequently, lowering the costs for the end-user as well.

From navigation to a unified maritime situational picture

SYNTACS operates independently of sensors and incorporates advanced tactical target management that evaluates and correlates information from several on-board navigation and monitoring systems.

The conventional navigation view is transformed into a comprehensive maritime picture, which is subsequently made accessible via a centralized user interface for navigation and mission execution. Besides primary navigational functionalities such as the (naval) radar and the (warship) electronic chart display and information system, SYNTACS presents a well-organized dashboard for tactical navigation, mission planning, and execution, along with fundamental combat functionalities.

Key features include:

  • Solid-state radar for surveillance and navigation (certified)
  • Defined alarm and protection zones with an integrated interception capability
  • Seamlessly incorporated electro-optical system for identification and surveillance
  • Integration and deployment of armament systems
  • Data links for exchanging routes, targets, and a shared operational picture between HSI-32 units and ground stations
  • Diverse software modules for mission administration, mission data logging, and other specialized use cases in the realm of maritime domain awareness
  • Designed for remote-controlled operations

Tailored lifecycle solution for C2 and navigation

Anschütz designs and integrates the mission systems based on specific customer needs utilizing SYNTACS software modules and incorporating third-party systems where necessary. Owing to their vital function in missions, Anschütz navigation and mission systems are crafted for high operational availability.

“At Anschütz, we possess decades of expertise in service support to aid clients with training, logistics services, and systems,” remarked Mrs. Gesa Tautz, After Sales Support Manager. “For the HSI-32 interceptors, we have developed a customized after-sales package. Customers can enjoy maximum uptime of our systems, underpinned by expert service support, full availability of spare parts, and advancements to the latest functionalities as technology progresses.”

The service package for the HSI-32 encompasses maintenance, repair, and upgrades for all system components, as well as comprehensive in-service support contracts. Anschütz will collaborate with local partners to manage customer service and transfer knowledge and technology to them.

Anschütz is a prominent German manufacturer, supplier, and integrator of bridge and mission systems.
