Fincantieri Unveils the Innovative “Thaon Di Revel” – First of Its Kind Multipurpose Offshore Patrol Vessel
Today, the handover of the Versatile Offshore Patrol Ship (PPA – Pattugliatore Polivalente d’Altura) “Paolo Thaon di Revel”, the inaugural vessel of seven, occurred at Fincantieri’s shipyard in Muggiano (La Spezia).
The PPAs are constructed at the Integrated Shipyard of Riva Trigoso and Muggiano, with anticipated deliveries extending until 2026. They represent a crucial part of the modernization strategy for the operational assets of the Italian Navy, which received approval from both the Government and Parliament, and commenced in May 2015 under the auspices of OCCAR (Organisation Conjointe de Cooperation sur l’Armement, an international organization for defense cooperation).
