Brazilian Navy Welcomes Its Inaugural H225M for Naval Warfare!
Airbus Helicopters has transferred the inaugural H225M in naval combat arrangement to the Brazilian Navy. Stationed at the naval facility in São Pedro d’Aldeia, this aircraft will enhance the Brazilian Navy’s operational capabilities, encompassing anti-surface warfare and maritime reconnaissance.
Engineered by the design team at Helibras (the Brazilian arm of Airbus Helicopters), this maritime variant of the H225M helicopter represents the most intricate configuration ever constructed for this versatile rotorcraft. The aircraft’s integrated systems feature the EWS IDAS-3 (countermeasure system), MBDA Exocet AM39 B2M2 missiles, the APS143 tactical radar, and the naval mission system N-TDMS (Naval Tactical Data Management System) developed in collaboration with Atech and Airbus Defense and Space, responsible for coordinating the command and control of all integrated systems, including the missile system.
“We take immense pride in this accomplishment, which showcases the industrial and technological prowess of the Airbus Helicopters teams in France and Brazil to deliver one of the most advanced solutions globally for the Brazilian Armed Forces,” stated Alberto Robles, Head of Latin America at Airbus Helicopters. “Tailored to fulfill the stringent demands of the Brazilian Navy, the sophisticated anti-surface warfare and tactical functionalities introduce new operational capabilities for the H225M utility helicopter.”
The final phase of the firing campaign utilizing the Exocet AM39 B2M2 missiles was successfully conducted last June, marking a significant milestone in the program that paves the way for qualification and delivery.
The naval H225M is part of the agreement established by the Brazilian government in 2008, which encompasses 50 H225Ms to be utilized by the three branches of the armed forces. To date, 39 H225Ms have been furnished to the Brazilian Armed Forces, all of which have been assembled domestically by Helibras.
