Fratelli Neri S.p.A., the family-operated, Livorno-based towing enterprise, has placed an order on the 21st of July for three new Damen vessels; an ASD Tug 2913, a Stan Tug 1606, and a Stan Launch 1305, the latter for its subsidiary company Labromare, which is partially owned by Tripmare S.p.A. All three vessels will be utilized in and around the Livorno port, one of the most active in the Mediterranean Sea. Delivery is scheduled for November this year.
This order increases to six the total Damen vessels acquired by Fratelli Neri over the past year. In January 2016, the company received its first ASD Tug 3212 fitted with a render recovery winch, becoming a pioneer in the Mediterranean. Several months prior, two used Stan Tugs 2608 were also purchased through Damen Trading.
The latest three vessels are all being acquired from inventory. Along with positive experiences with their existing Damen fleet, the assurance of quick delivery played a vital role in Damen securing this recent order. The ASD 2913 is currently under construction at Damen Shipyards Galati, Romania, and will now undergo modifications to ensure complete adherence to Italian flag regulations. This includes FiFi1, oil recovery capabilities, and an aft bridge. Fratelli Neri chose the ASD 2913 due to its robust yet compact design. With an impressive 80 tonnes of bollard pull, it possesses ample strength for operations in the bustling Livorno port along Italy’s beauty of Tuscany, enhancing excellent maneuverability as an additional benefit.
The Stan Tug 1606 has been procured for services on the coastal and inland waters surrounding Livorno. This tried-and-true design is commercially established worldwide, noted for its sturdy yet compact nature, making it perfect for narrow waterways. Currently stored at Damen Shipyards Gorinchem in the Netherlands, the vessel will be upgraded to meet Italian flag standards, incorporating fire-fighting systems and an aft towing winch.
The final vessel, a Stan Launch 1305, is also in inventory at Gorinchem. This vessel will be operated by Labromare S.r.l. Livorno to deliver various environmental services in Italy and will come equipped with a bow thruster and an aft towing hook.
