
“INS Visakhapatnam: The Pinnacle of Power and Modern Warfare in the Indian Navy”
The Indian Navy has officially commissioned INS Visakhapatnam, the flagship of the Visakhapatnam-class destroyers, designed and produced by the Directorate of Naval Design and Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited, located in Mumbai. The commissioning ceremony took place at the Naval dockyard in Mumbai, attended by the Indian Defense Minister, the Chief of the Indian Navy, along with other high-ranking military and civil officials on Sunday, November 21.
INS Visakhapatnam boasts a full-load displacement of 7,400 tonnes and spans a length of 163 meters. This P15B guided-missile destroyer is capable of accommodating a crew of 312 personnel, features an operational range of 4,000 nautical miles, and can undertake a typical mission lasting 42 days with the potential for extended missions in out-of-area operations. Its maximum speed reaches approximately 30 knots.
